'The Martian' by Andy Weir

While I don't read too much science fiction, I do have an appreciation for it. Especially if it's engineering based, and actually plausible. 'The Martian' falls directly into this spectrum.

In an inventive format (mostly log entries, some third person narration and other interesting tactics) Weir has written an inventive and exciting story that holds plausible technology-wise the entire time. In fact, in some cases the laborious detail actually bogs down the book -- however, this isn't frequent and the tension through the story pulls you through it.

Overall, I enjoyed the novel and would read more of Weir's work in the future.
