I've been a bit behind on my updates! Trying to catch up ... short updates below.

'My Life as a Quant: Reflections on Physics and Finance' by Emanuel Derman
Finished some time in May or June 2020
Thoughts: Came highly recommended -- certain parts I thought were well written (specifically earlier career) though it got a bit dry towards the end. Still overall good read.

'The Wave: In Pursuit of the Rogues, Freaks, and Giants of the Ocean' by Susan Casey
Finished Sometime in July/August 2020
Thoughts: Really interesting, easy read. Would suggest -- thought the pairing of hard wave science and big wave surfing kept the pace nicely and was really a good deep dive into a particular subject not well covered before.

'Boom Town: The Fantastical Saga of Oklahoma City, Its Chaotic Founding... Its Purloined Basketball Team, and the Dream of Becoming a World-class Metropolis' by Sam Anderson
Finished 11/12 at 9:27
Thoughts: Very interesting. Same as 'The Wave' -- it's double-helix like structure tying history and, in this case, basketball, I found really drove the story. It went a bit long, but is filled with so much strangeness that it makes you wonder why we don't talk about Oklahoma City more. A great resource on another obscure topic. Worth the read.
